Energy/Utility Auditing
Energy/Utility Auditing is performed for one or more of the
following reasons:
Utility Rate/Charges Verification
In this type of audit, computer software is used to verify
the utility companies’ charges and correct rate structure.
Predominant Use Study
This type of audit/study in many cases is for the facility
operator’s own internal use in making decisions about
the costs and rates of return for upgrading equipment to
more efficient types.
Identify Energy Savings Opportunities
Energy/Utility Auditing in this application simply stated is
the task of investigating where and how a building, facility
or business is consuming energy in order to identify energy
savings opportunities.
The simple equation EPF = EN + EW (Energy Paid For=Energy
Needed + Energy Wasted) describes the main function of the
audit. However, in many cases the audits lead to a changing
of utility rates and the possibility of rebates for the building
owner. We will perform a preliminary review of a client’s
utility bill, at no obligation, in order to determine if an
in depth audit is justified.
